Dick and Katie got here on Friday afternoon. It was one of those rare days where this bright shinny thing is in the sky. What's that called again? Oh. Right. The sun! While dinner was cooking, the kids took Grandma and Grandpa down to the cul de sac for some bike riding and bug hunting.
Saturday we were up bright and early. Dick rented a HUGE suburban so we could all ride together. Let me tell you, I love my minivan even more after riding in that thing. But it was nice to be able to chat while we went and for us not to waste gas money.
Grandpa wanted to be the first to take the kids on the Ferry. So we headed to downtown Seattle and got on board going to Bainbridge Island. It was so cold up top, but the kids loved it!
Grandpa even shared his popcorn treat. It made it difficult to get a good picture, but they were happy so I can't complain :)
After we got off the Ferry, we headed to Poulsbo. Dick had heard that they had a cute downtown area that he wanted to check out. What we didn't know is that it was "Viking Days" that weekend. I have no idea why, since it was the funniest part of the whole day, but no one took any pictures!! Ugh! There were people in full Viking garb. The kids didn't know what to make of them at all. We grabbed some lunch there and sat to listen to some music. There was a little incident when we lost Ben. Oops! But we found him and the crisis was averted.
We headed back to the condo, got the kids a nap and met Uncle Dan for dinner at U Village (which is a shopping center near U. of Wash.). It was such a fun, relaxing day!!! The kids were completely wiped out, but enjoyed every minute of it :)
