Uncle Dan visits

Before I tell you about our visit, I just want to apologize for my severe lack of posting over the last week (or more). We have ALL come down with a horrible cold. Maddie started us off, and is the closest to getting it over with. Ben ended up with his very first ear infection! After being sick for a week, I lost my voice completely yesterday (much to Joe's delight) and am just now getting it back. Joe came off the easiest, though I'm not sure he feels that way right now. He got sick about Wednesday and has been fighting a losing battle with his nose ever since. Needless to say, nothing much happened to us lately, and no one was in the mood to write.

Today we had a VERY special treat...Uncle Dan came down to visit us! He is currently a medical student at the University of Washington, so he's relatively close by. Maddie especially LOVES Uncle Dan VERY much. She talks about "Unco Dan" often. Ben really likes him too, but since he's been so sick, he's kind of a mama's boy right now (Aw, shucks :)

While Dan was here, he played soccer and catch, checked out Maddie's big girl bed, read books, colored, played with the train table (he thought that was pretty cool), and sat next to Maddie while we had dinner. After dessert and bath, he even read them their bedtime story and helped us tuck them in.

We are very thankful for Dan. It's been especially wonderful to have him close by so that we could watch him grow and mature and he could have a relationship with the kids!! We love all our relatives equally, but Uncle Dan definitely holds a special place in all our hearts :)
