My dad came down and graciously took care of Maddie for us the morning of the surgery. We had to be at the hospital by 6:45. I was AMAZED that we were on our way home by 9am. Crazy! We spent some time in pre-op helping Ben feel comfortable while they gave him drugs to calm him down. He was hilarious! He initially put up a fight that he didn't want to take his PJ's off. Well, after the Verced, he still put up a fight, but it was a much less demanding, more out-of-control, flailing one. Poor kiddo! Anyway, they got him all ready, took him back. What the surgeon did was made an incision on his lower abdomen (about where they'd do a c-section cut, but to the right), and another on his scrotum. Then they pulled the testicle down to it's proper location, and put in a bubble at its previous location to make sure the testicle stays in place. An hour later, we were headed home.
The whole first day he was awake, which I was surprised about, but he was pretty out of it. He got frustrated really easily, and while you could have a conversation with him, you could tell he was still feeling the effects of the meds. By Thursday, he was doing much better. By Friday, it was a long exhausting string of, "no running," "no jumping," "no rough housing!" Little people sure recover quickly!
All drugged up and not very happy. Poor little man.
Sweet little Simba curled up with Ben and purred for a long time. So cute!
His post-op appointment went great! Everything has healed. His has some awesome scars that he thinks are pretty cool. He's more than happy to drop his drawers and show everyone where he had his "suwgewy." ....A little too happy to pull them down, perhaps. Boys :)
